Downtown Oxnard is represented by the Downtown Oxnard Improvement Association (DOIA), a nonprofit dedicated to making the district a great place to live, work, and play. Operating as a property-based business improvement district since 2001, the organization partners with local business and government to strengthen downtown's economic vitality and its role as the historic and cultural heart of the Oxnard community.
The identity was designed to feel festive and welcoming — a place to gather and find community. Downtown Oxnard has a strong Hispanic community at its core, so the supporting pattern draws from papel picado, the traditional Mexican paper-cutting craft. It's a detail that nods to that heritage while carrying exactly the sense of celebration the brand was after.
